In this first issue of 2012 we will discuss two issues. How to prevent calcium buildup and what is needed to have proper drainage for a puddle free backyard. These are preventative efforts to get you ready in choosing the right pool builder. As the spring time approaches many are starting to plan for their future pool. Find a pool that not only fits your family needs but a pool that will keep you and family happy for many years to come.

| Prevent Calcium Buildup |
Will your pool builder keep your pool and spa's beautiful walls clear of calcium? There is an easy way to prevent this from happening:
Use a sealant to seal the gunite. This will help prevent moisture from coming through the opposite side, it will help eliminating those ugly white stains. Not every pool builder will do something like this, so be sure that you specify and ask for a sealant that will work on both the positive and negative side of the gunite structure. Make sure you ask for this preventative tool before choosing your pool builder.

Proper Drainage for a Puddle Free Yard
|
With our Texas soil it's important to keep our homes and yards drained properly. Rain can potentially cause serious issues around swimming pool stains. As with everything in the pool construction industry, there is both a right and wrong, cheap and expensive way to prevent drainage problems:
The primary goal of proper drainage is to remove the water and put it where it belongs, in the street! To drain water from your yard the right way, we recommend taking area drains (4-inch pipes with drain heads placed within your decking) and tying them to any down spouts that can potentially come off of the roof onto your deck. These drain pipes then run all the way to your street, keeping your pool deck puddle free.
