Checking on your Skimmer

The inspection I want you to do is to go and inspect your skimmer baskets. We want to make sure that they are not cracked or getting weak. If they are let’s replace them know. If a lot of debris passes through the skimmer basket to the pump is will put extra strain on the pump and could even clogged the pipe or burn up a pump motor.

While at the skimmer I want you to check what is called the skimmer weir this is that rectangle floating piece of plastic between the pool and the skimmer. Let make sure that is floating freely. If it is not it could stick and not give the pump all the water it needs to operate which in turn could burn the motor up. At times if you hear your pump making loud noises first go check this weir as a leaf or a twig could help get it stuck.
